Hopes were high for a big sack event Tuesday at Evergreen. Hopes were painfully crushed in just three short hours.
High winds again greeted the anglers of the BNBC at Evergreen. We seem to have less-than-stellar luck with weather at the lake this year, but we fight through it. Seventeen boats gave it their all for the evening, but the lake was’t giving it up. Thirteen of the angler teams came back reeking of skunk, but we later learned the smell was Martoglio’s saugeye carcasses in the trash cans. Thanks, Jerry.
Larry Russell an Randy Ferguson were quick to credit the infamous Short Bus Guide Service for their first place and big bass victory with a solid fish of 2.27 pounds. Yes, you read correctly. ONE FISH. The fish was verified to have not been frozen and pulled from the grocer’s seafood section. It was not checked for lead consumption, though.
The team of Overocker and Vickers brought in a second place worthy bass of 1.97 pounds. Their fish came from some cover they had scouted the night before while pre-fishing for the event. Nice job, guys!
Maisenbacher and Bree blah, blah, blah. But really, they finished the evening with one fish weighing in at 1.83 pounds, good enough for third place and in the money. The points didn’t hurt them, either, as it let them maintain first in the YTD standings.
First out of the money with a fish squeaking in at 1.59 pounds was Jim Frye and Marvin Cooke. Their fish was the last of four weighed in at the event.
Notables: Dave Norris gave Gena a shoe-in vote for Brett Myers fame with tales of “the big one” getting right to the boat an shaking free.
